Fees & Approach

Clear scope. Proportionate costs. Practical next steps. Welshdale structures arbitration and commercial-dispute support around the needs and value of each matter.

A clear way to move forward

Dispute costs should be understood before commitments are made. We discuss the scope of work, relevant deadlines, responsibilities, proposed fees and any need for external advisers before an engagement begins.

01 — Initial enquiry

Tell us the parties involved, the broad nature of the dispute, relevant jurisdictions and any urgent dates. We start with a brief, non-confidential outline and consider potential conflicts.

02 — Focused assessment

Where appropriate, we agree a defined assessment of the contract, available evidence, arbitration clause, commercial objectives and potential options. The scope and fee are agreed in advance.

03 — Staged case support

If further work is appropriate, we propose clearly described stages for evidence preparation, case coordination, specialist input, procedural support or settlement preparation.

04 — Review and next decision

At agreed milestones we review progress, costs and the next decision. This helps clients consider proportionality before committing to additional work.

How fees are agreed

Fees depend on the matter, available documents, urgency, complexity and the services required. We may propose defined-stage or fixed-scope arrangements where appropriate; any price, payment schedule and exclusions will be stated in a written proposal before work starts. External counsel, institutional fees, arbitrators and independent experts may incur separate costs. We do not publish standard prices because each dispute requires an individual assessment.

Welshdale is an arbitration and commercial-dispute consultancy, not a firm of solicitors. Representation and any jurisdiction-specific legal work are subject to applicable rules and professional requirements. An enquiry does not create an engagement, and urgent deadlines remain the enquirer’s responsibility until agreed otherwise.

Discuss your matter.

Begin with a brief, non-confidential enquiry. We will consider the next steps and any proposed scope before work starts.
